Bearings are primarily used to reduce the friction that occurs when
machines are in functioning mode. There are innumerable types of
bearings that have come into being, since it was first used. However, to
make things simpler the bearings are categorized in accordance to the
type of motion they allow in tandem with the principle of functionality.
Amongst all the possible bearing motions, the most common are the linear and rotary ones. Basically the rotary motions occur when bearings are put to use. Thus, roller bearings are primarily those that permit the movement that occurs surrounding the center. An example of this is the wheel that is placed on a shaft. The roller bearings are designed to support movement either a particular direction (one-way), or oscillating (moving back and forth) motion. As far as the shape of these bearings are concerned, they maybe cylindrical or conical. However, the shape is dependant on the function. These bearings are commonly utilized in light precision machinery; as well as in automobile axles, shafts of machinery and in those parts of the clock that require precision in motion.~ Authored R Karwa.
