Gingivitis (pronounced "jin-ja-VI-tus"), is the inflammation, swelling, and bleeding of gum tissues. Bleeding gums are known as gingivitis and can be caused due to a number of reasons. To cure the problem, one has to first understand the underlying reason behind it. The main reason are the bacteria coating the teeth, and if one does not brush thoroughly then it transforms into a white sticky substance called plaque. If it is untreated at the right time it affects the gums through the teeth then going into the bone creating a crater that has to be surgically treated.

A few natural cures for bleeding gums include dissolving a pinch of salt in warm water and rinsing your mouth with it. Do this twice a day as it increases circulation and reduces gum swelling. Drinking green tea is said to keep your mouth fresh and does away with bad odour. Eat organic fruits and vegetables along with an increase of Vitamin C intake. Add 2-3 drops of tree oil to your toothpaste. It will do away with the collected tartar. Flossing your teeth every time you eat something is a great way to keep your teeth clean. Carry the floss in your bag or pocket and floss it every time you nibble or eat a meal.

Also while brushing your teeth, angle the toothbrush to 45 degrees slightly massaging your gums. This helps increase circulation and keeps your teeth clean for the next few hours.

With a pinch of salt soaked in a glass of lukewarm water, you now create a homemade saline solution. Use this to rinse in the morning and in the evening. This will help increase circulation in your gums and reduce the swelling.
