artificial flowers

A thing of beauty is a joy forever. Flowers are an emblem of divine beauty, but unfortunately the joy is short-lived. Natural flowers, though the most exquisite gifts of all, cannot capture the emotions of the giver for a long time. Thus was born the trend of using artificial flowers whose utilities extended from gifting to home décor. The use of artificial flowers can be traced to 25 B.C., but the crown age came during the Victorian era when flowers were created using Paper, wax, silk etc. Modern Ages have seen the adoption of silk as a preferred medium since it spells grace, ethereal and the apt substitute for the smoothness of natural flowers.

There has always been a long-standing debate about using real flowers vis-à-vis man-made ones especially for décor purposes. But when it comes to gifting flowers, a plethora of amazing variety is available, especially in the Indian market today. Vivid Iris Fresia to Cabbage roses, supple Zerberas to elegant orchids, all types of flowers are derived from durable and aesthetic material like handmade paper, cloth, wood, satin etc. and converted into single-stems or bouquets to gift for personal and friendly occasions. Try a charming wrought iron vase with a bush of red roses or an Ikebana-like Daffodils arrangement to wish a dear one.

A humungous array of genres and colours are available as the possibilities are endless. Chrysanthemums, Lilacs, Tulips, Blue lysinths, Tiger lilies, Magnolias, Carnations, Velvet roses, Anthuriums...the list is endless and so also the derived creations.

Usage of artificial flowers is not limited to just bouquets. They are made into apparel accessories like corsages, chokers, wristlets, brooches, hairclips etc that can be excellent gifting options. Keepsake boxes adorned with lovely mulberry sunflowers, porcelain vases with artificial flowers made of clay, a bamboo or cane basket embellished with a fusion of clay fruit and flowers etc. are appropriate for Diwali or a Birthday. A potpourri of silver and synergetic - coloured artificial flowers serve as the right choice to wish on a Silver Anniversary.

The Indian market is a leading exporter of Artificial flowers and gifts abroad due to the huge base of NRI’s who are still in league with their cultural roots. Various occasions and festivals see a business of crores as artificial flower-made gifts exchange boundaries. Besides the Export market, domestically too, man-made flowers and derived gifts are in great demand. Thus products from China, Singapore and Thailand such as mulberry sunflowers, cocoons etc. are imported in abundance.

So, the choice of natural flowers vis-à-vis man-made blossoms will always be a debatable one, but if one would take stock of the changing scenarios, artificial flowers presented in their various marvelous forms are well-appreciated the world over.
