The art of gifting is not difficult to master. With a little penchant
for aesthetics and innovative thinking, one can ease the pressures of
good gifting. One of the off-beat, yet well-appreciated options as a
gift are scarves. Primarily a Western concept, scarves are not exactly a
very popular accessory item in India. Though in certain Corporate
organizations, these are as integral as formal wear. But apart from
categorized as formal, scarves are increasingly being used as a fashion
statement. Designers are including scarves in various forms like
headscarves, neck-wraps, stoles etc. in their Western as well as Indian
makes. Changing trends, cross-culture adaptations etc. have made scarves
well-used apparel today and thus they make an ideal gift. Where can one find good scarves? Most of the premium Indian department stores allot an exclusive space for scarves. Shoppers’ Stop, Globus, Westside, Lifestyle, Pantaloons and in-house malls of various Multiplexes are the best dens for a decent scarf. Chromatic colours and latest designs adorn the shelves that give them a premium and appealing look. Branded scarves like Oobe’s, Mango, Satya Paul etc. are the choice of the upper crest. But even unbranded ones are equally charming and can pass off as exquisite ones. For a less spendthrift person, there are several small shops and market places wherein decent scarves are available. E.g. Colaba causeway in Mumbai is a great shopping haunt for reasonably priced scarves. Scarves in India are of export quality. Indian exporters cater to markets like France, Italy, Singapore, USA etc.
Types of scarves to choose from as a gift :
In a nutshell, scarves are a charming gift option and quite ‘out-of-box’ too. But one must be sure that the receiver is a frequent or at least an occasional user of scarves, for the gift to be worthy. ~ authored Karishma Bajaj.
