| India joined the nuclear club on 11 May 1998, when it conducted 3 nuclear tests. Code-named operation shakti-1, they were part of a series of 5 nuclear tests held as a joint project of India's Department of Atomic Energy and Defence Research and Development Organisation. India tested its 1st nuclear device in the year 1974 and has now developed a huge nuclear infrastructure ever since. India now has it's own "in-house" capability to design and produce all the components necessary for making nuclear weapons and the ballistic missiles. India & Pakistan are now at nuclear crossroads, and World peace is threatened because of the hostility between these two nuclear-capable neighbours. While we do not blame either country as being responsible for the increased tension, we do hope that may peace prevail in the region, forever and ever.
