help tips Solving a math problem is an
achievement. While math is also about aptitude one must keep the
inclination high. Though each child is different in its focus, math
is necessary as it involves high mental work. If the child is not
interested in homework, make it a fun way of teaching. Get them some
activity based books and tell them to count the canapés or sundaes.
At home it is best to teach them to count the vegetables or the
books in the shelf.
Homework should be done with minimum help. Firstly avoid all kinds
of distractions and promise the child that he can watch the
television or play outside after the homework is completed. Summer
vacations can also be a fair amount of work and play by revising
multiplication and conversions. Ascertain the aptitude of your child
and encourage him to improve on the same.
Let them learn about geometry in a neat manner. Explain to them the
theorem or teach them the problem. Prior to actual homework, sit
with the child and go through the books and the solution formulated
by the school teacher. Math is about solving a problem and there are
multiple ways to arrive at a solution. It is better to teach them
the way the school has formulated and also explore the possibilities
of solving a variety of other math related studies.
Check with child's math homework daily.
If you cannot follow your child's math assignments, get clarifications
from your child's teacher.
If your child is getting poor grades in math, contact the teacher for
tips.
Enquire about after-school math tutoring sessions if your child needs
additional math help.
Use some math educational games & household chores as opportunities to
reinforcing math learning.
Do not try shortcut formulas or different ways which may conflict with the
approach the teacher is using.
