Cyber-Pedophiles are those who intentionally prey upon children.  They pretend to be young children themselves and gradually earn the child's trust for the purpose of seducing them into sexual and indecent acts. This often occurs as the unsuspecting parent sits in the next room.  Parents must educate children on the dos and don'ts of safe surfing and discourage their children  from talking with strangers on the net.

Lady Chat friend kidnaps 16-yr-old boy......Mumbai (india) 20/11/2000

From Chalomumbai.com    (Mid-day) By: Bhupen Patel

A 16-year-old boy, who was kidnapped by a woman he befriended through chats on the net, was rescued by the Missing Persons Bureau (MPB) yesterday evening.

Abrar Ashraf Khatri, a Std VII student and resident of Kidwai Marg, Wadala, was a regular visitor to internet cafés. In May, he came into contact with Peris Williams, a resident of Apurva building, opposite Recreation Club, Andheri (W), through the Net. They became close friends and started meeting each other after working hours.

His father, Ashraf, got wind of the friendship in July when Abrar did not attend school one day and remained missing the entire day.

He was finally located loitering in Wadala and brought back home.

On November 2, Abrar left home again. Ashraf lodged a missing person complaint with the Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Marg police station under Sections 363 and 368 of the Indian Penal Code.

He also informed the police of Abrar's friendship with Williams. When the police questioned Williams, she refused to cooperate and asked them to produce a search warrant. Meanwhile, Abrar kept passing on messages to his parents through his cousin Naseer.

Finally, the case was transferred to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Preventive) Dr Pradnya Sarvade, who directed the MPB to investigate. The MPB approached Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd (VSNL) and found that Abrar used to frequent Ganesh Birazdar Café in Dombivli (E) to keep in touch with his cousin. They then nabbed the boy on one of his visits to the café.

Senior Inspector Kiran Kacheshwar Pagare said: "After interrogating Abrar, we found that he was likely to be taken to Pakistan as Williams had asked him to bring his passport along with him when he left his home on November 2. Williams had kept the boy at her Andheri home from November 2 to 4. Later, she shifted him to a friend's place in Kalyan. She told him to assume the name Ajay Sharma, gave him expensive clothes, shoes, a gold chain, Rs 2,000 and her mobile phone and promised him that she would send him to Pakistan and make him rich."

Pagare said that the case had been handed back to the RAK Marg police and that Williams is likely to be arrested today.

Juhu girl, 16, flees with Net lover...Mumbai (India) 3.12.2000

From Chalomumbai.com  (Mid-day))  By: Bhupen Patel

Internet chat has claimed yet another victim.

A 16-year-old girl has been reported missing from her home after she befriended a boy in Muradabad through Internet chat.

The Missing Persons Bureau (MPB) has registered a complaint and is investigating the matter.
Priya Singh (not her real name), a Std XI student of MMK College, Bandra, and a resident of 5th North South Road, Juhu, left her home for college on November 28 at 11 am. When she failed to return late that day, her parents began a search for her.

They approached the Juhu police station and registered a complaint, and the case was later transferred to the MPB.

During investigations the police interrogated one of her close friends and learnt that Priya was a frequent visitor at Mantra Online Cyber Café situated at Birla House, Juhu, where she came in contact with one Asad from Uttar Pradesh through Internet chatting. They were in touch for a long time and also began making STD calls to each other. The victim's mother, Karuna, said, "Priya's father has already left for Muradabad and is at present searching for her with the help of the Muradabad police. We are sure that she is there and we will find her soon."

Senior Police Inspector Kiran Kacheshwar Pagare who is investigating the matter said, "Despite the rise in such cases there are no fixed hours or age limit for people using Internet cafés. Many of them run round the clock. This is the second missing person case registered with us. College students are increasingly spending most of their pocket money on Net chatting."

Only last month, on November 2, Abrar Ashraf Khatri, a Std VII student from Wadala, who was a regular visitor to several Internet cafés, came in contact with Persis Williams, from Andheri through Net chatting.

They became close friends and started meeting each other after working hours.

Abrar was eventually kidnapped by Persis and was likely to be sent to Pakistan when the police arrested the kidnapper who is now cooling her heels in the lock-up.

A paedophile who lured a 13-year-old girl to his home via the internet for sex was jailed today.

Patrick Green, 33, pretended to be a 15-year-old boy during months of e-mail correspondence to entice the child to his house in Iver Heath, Bucks..

At the time of the offences, committed earlier this year, Green was already on police bail following his arrest on suspicion of indecently assaulting another youngster he had also met through the internet.

He was arrested after the 13-year-old girl confessed to her mother what had been happening.

Police arrested Green on 26 May in a northern resort as he was driving towards the home of a 14-year-old girl with whom he was preparing to spend the weekend.

He had also met the girl in an internet "chatroom".
