In order to ensure the birth of a healthy baby it is necessary for the mother-to-be to maintain holistic good health throughout the pregnancy tenure. It is essential that she take every measure to maintain a healthy body. And in order to maintain a healthy body the mother-to-be needs to follow a proper balanced diet regime that needs to be prescribed by a certified nutritionist and followed up regularly. One needs to also follow a proper exercise routine and take all prescribed medicines. On the mental and emotional level, one should keep oneself happy. No stress, no tension, no sorrow, no misery, no anger, no frustration; only happy and happiness, smiles ad joy, peace and calm.

Maintaining holistic good health is a guarantee to giving birth to healthy baby. As much as people consider massages a luxury, it is in fact one of the basic needs of the human body. This is because therapists are trained to massage the body in a way that the muscles and the entire nervous system are relaxed, which automatically relaxes and calms one completely. Prenatal massage has such a therapeutic effect; and more so the therapists are trained to regulate the flow of blood and bring rejuvenation to the tired mind and body.

Due to the constant changes the body is undergoing one needs to keep in check the possibility of swinging towards prenatal depression. This could lead to miscarriage, as well as abnormalities in the growth and development of the fetus. Excessive depression is known to have caused heart and breathing problems in the fetus. And one of the common complications during child birth is the baby getting entangled in the umbilical chord due to a shift in position. According to most gynecologists and obstetricians such shifts are caused by the discomfort the fetus experiences in the womb and tries to shift into a more comfortable position. And this discomfort is caused by negative emotions.

Pregnancy & prenatal care go hand-in-hand. One cannot overlook the need for closely monitored prenatal care to be able to bring about the birth of a healthy baby. Today, this is more important than ever before because of the kind of times we are living in. Pollution, stress, worries, troubles, etc., seem to be at an all time high. As much as one is warned to keep stress levels under control, yet it seems almost impossible and this leads to the varied complications, some of which never existed before.

Prenatal skin care does not just imply the healthy skin development of the fetus, but also the skin care of the mother-to-be. Due to various reasons, during pregnancy, a woman’s skin goes through various changes. The skin may become excessively oily and cause acne, or then become dry and flaky. Also, those pregnant are more prone to skin infections, as their skin becomes all the more sensitive and delicate. However, with a proper recommended diet routine, all problems can be brought under control. Also, in consultation with the gynecologist or obstetrician, the dermatologists suggests certain creams and lotions that can b applied externally in order to maintain healthy and glowing skin.

Advisably, women are required to undergo all dental treatments prior to pregnancy. But that does mean that one does not develop dental problems during the pregnancy term. In fact, go for regular pregnancy dental care tests in order to avoid periodontal disease. This is a serious gum disease that causes the detachment of the teeth from the gums. The first signs of this is bleeding or swelling or tenderness of redness of gums during pregnancy. When such symptoms are noticed one should visit the dentist immediately.

Prenatal care during pregnancy is not only about right eating and exercising, but also regular visits to the doctor and regularly taking the tests in order to monitor if any abnormalities are occurring in the growth and development of the fetus. According to the health care experts one needs to visit the doctor once a month during the first five to six months of pregnancy; every fortnight during the seventh and eighth month and every week in the ninth month.

Prenatal ultrasound of twins needs to be done more regularly than that of the single fetus. This is because the space within the womb is ideally meant for a single baby-growth; and when the twins are forming there is possibility of one dominating over the other and getting more of the nutrition and space. However, constant monitoring, the doctor can ensure that both are growing healthily. Also early detection of any abnormality in one of the twins can prevent it from spreading to the other, especially where infections are concerned.

A more recent advancement in prenatal testing is the 4d prenatal ultrasound imaging. This process provides clearer images of the fetus within and can make out the minutest deformity that otherwise could not be noticed. The images captured seem even more life-like than the other types of ultrasounds. Like they say it is a sleek method of watching the child develop during the periodic checks. This facility is available at most hospitals around the country. Importantly, when going for any type of ultrasound one should remember it is illegal to try and find out the gender of the child, more so in India where female feticide still prevails rampantly even in the larger metro cities.
