baby memory book

Memories are exactly what most dreams are made of. These memories could be of loved ones, family and friends as these are the people who keep our dreams alive. That is the reason that when a child is born, the entire family tends to celebrate. But then, unless someone keeps a conscious effort to keep a tab on the particular celebrations for the baby, the baby will never know who and what happened. In fact this becomes all the more important in Indian families, because any Indian occasion is attended by such a large bunch of the family members that it becomes easier for the baby to identify all the members of the family simply by looking at pictures of the occasions. Therefore maintaining a baby memory book makes it easier for the child to relate to all the family members especially in the present times when it is becoming increasingly difficult to meet them often.
And most times the most important occasions are simply forgotten and lost. It is very difficult to know what the future holds for each of us and that’s why it is very important to record every important moment of your baby’s growing up phase in the baby memory book.
A baby memory book that is filled with snapshots of you and your family will ensure that the baby never forgets his or her roots. A memory book of your baby should ideally be started long before the baby even arrives on the scene. The pictures of the mother and the father, the grandparents, siblings, the house the family lived in, everything that pertains to the baby, even prior to the baby’s arrival, should be included.
The baby memory book itself, can be a designated baby book that is purchased from a card shop or a nursery. It can even be an empty photo album, or a hand-made book made out of a three-ring binder and colored paper. This is one area where you can let your imagination run wild. But you do have to remember that you’re making this for your baby, so nothing but the best will do.
It is also important to include information from each of the important events that are celebrated around the birth of your baby like the baby shower etc. You can save simple souvenirs such as a copy of the silly games played, an invitation and a thank you card, all congratulatory cards from family and friends, and specially printed napkins. Some of the other visual memoirs can be snapshots of the cake, the decorations, and anything else fun that happened that day.
You can basically continue along the same line and add anything and everything that represents the baby’s family during the nine months prior to his/her arrival. And when the actual day of the birth arrives, make sure you keep track of what happened, when.
And it might be an added delight for the baby if both the mom and dad, and the grandparents write down their version of the day. The actual birth date is likely to be the most emotional point in the baby’s life. And the child won’t even know about it unless you document everything.
In fact another interesting idea is to add the front page of the local newspaper, as well as the front page of the national newspaper. If there’s something happening in the news that day that is particularly important, jot that down, and your feelings about it, too.
Add to the baby memory book every time you think about it. Most children don’t retain the memories of their childhood. And they are generally not very vivid either. Therefore it is a good idea to save some memories for them. And in fact the memories aren’t just for your child, but for yourself also.
