The word Unusual Baby names means names that you will
not encounter in everyday life. Neither are the names ordinary or common
nor are they the usual run of the mill. In fact to be truthful, the
names could actually be a little peculiar. Having said that care should
be taken while selecting an unusual baby name for remember- you are
endowing somebody else with it.
The reason why people choose unusual names is that people being what
they are constantly look out for means to get attention. By choosing an
unusual name for the baby, they feel they are one step ahead of the
others because they have chosen a name that is likeable yet not
ordinary. Also choosing an unusual baby name means there is a break in
the chain of similarities and a difference in the thought process that
go into creation of the name.
A name is synonymous with identity and since first names are resorted to
more frequently than before, an unusual name can be really special. An
unusual name can be created by conjuring up something absolutely new or
by combining a couple of names in a special way. A couple of extra
alphabets could make an ordinary name unique. Places of birth or
different colors, names of flowers or vegetables ingeniously coined
augur for unusual names. Traits and inspiritational themes are really
unique. The Atlas actually provides a good basis for such themes. Names
of rivers, cities, and towns are top on the list and names like Ganga,
Yamuna, Narmada, and Kashmira top the list of unusual names. However,
choosing an unusual name is usually fraught with problems of a kind.
Since the identity of the baby is its name, selecting a name that is
unusual means being saddled with that name for life. So if the name is
appropriate while the child is young, it may not be suitable when it
becomes an adult or during middle age.
So choosing an unusual name that is not undesirable, silly or faddish is
absolutely essential. Otherwise imagine the plight of the toddler who is
tagged with an unusual name when he grows up to be an adult. He could
experience great difficulties in harboring normal relationships and
sometimes it could be traumatic. Recent trends however indicate that
unusual names being more widely used have ceased to become unusual.
