Because of the
responsibility that goes with your babysitting job, babysitting is an
extremely important job.
When you acceept a babysitting job, you accept the responsibility for a
child's life. You won't say "YES" to every request. To decide which jobs to
accept and which to refuse, you need to screen every job ASAP (A-able,
S-Safe, A-Available, P-Permission)
A... Am I Able to babysit? Are there more than 2 children? Is the child
younger than 6 months old? Does the child have a medical problem? Is the job
too long? Are there any extra responcibilities?
S... Will I be Safe? Is the house childproof so that guns, matches, and
dangerous things are locked up for babysitting ? Does the employer scare
me? Do I feel safe with the children? Is the house in a safe neighborhood
for babysitting ?
A...... Am I Available for babysitting ? Is that date saved for my
family, friends, or school? Do I have a lot to do that week? Is anyone
important to me likely to ask me to do something at that time?
P... Do I have Permission? Does my family know everything he/she needs
to know to make a good decision about me accepting this babysitting job?
Never accept a babysitting job that is more than you can handle or a job
that places your safety at risk because of safety problems with the
children, the employer, the home, or neighborhood.
