What are linear bearings? Basically what are known as linear bearings
are bearings that support motion that happens along a straight line.
For instance, a linear motion is such as pulling out and pushing in
drawers. Thus, as the name suggests, these bearings are generally used
in mechanisms that require such type of movement – on a linear path. There are primarily the types of linear bearings that are commonly used. These are the ball bearings; crossed-roller bearings and the slide bearings. As far as utility is concerned they are generally put to use when the aim is either one of the following: · Complete precision Or, · Exceedingly decreased friction Or, · A combination of the two abovementioned or a combination of both. The linear bearings are used because of the longevity in comparison to the others. They also provide increased precision and enhanced load capacity. These bearings generally require minimum maintenance. They are also lightweight, with enhanced speed, and rather inexpensive. Authored R Karwa.
