copper mailboxes

In India, as like in other countries around the world, copper mailboxes have been placed outside many homes. This is primarily because this metal is corrosive-resistant and therefore survives through the ravages of various climates and seasons. As such this metal also calls for minimal maintenance. It can be easily cleaned and polished even at home. Today, a lot of cleaning liquids are available in the market that brings a shine to your metal products, without doing any harm.

Through the ages copper has been used to manufacture various products such as wires, gutters, doorknobs, rods and other household fixtures, cooking utensils, jewelry, etc. In fact artifacts made of this metal date back to 8700 BC, especially in Rome and Greece. This reddish-brown metal is popularly used because of its ductility and malleability.

Copper mailboxes, could be the simple ones that represent a birdhouse, except that instead of having holes for birds, it has slits for letters. They could also be adorned with artistic engravings. These mailboxes are usually mounted on a pillar, making it easy for the postman to place the letter. Those living in bungalows and row houses could place the mailbox at the entrance so that the postman need not enter the house.

For those living in apartments in India, the mailbox system is different. In the recent years every society has a section of the building lobby blocked for copper mailboxes, with a separate compact box for each flat owner. The advantage of such mailboxes is that the letters are secure and only the owner has the key to it. And when you are out you can be sure that none of your letters have gone back.
