A number of historic monuments that adorn India were made
from stone. One of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Taj Mahal, has
been constructed from white marble and has survived the ravages of time.
In fact it is known the world over that in terms of monumental heritage,
India houses some of the most magnificent and towering stone monuments.
Natural stones are among the most valuable gifts that nature has
bestowed to mankind. There are many types of natural stones that
are available in the market today like sandstones, limestone,
slate stone, quartzite, marble, cobbles, pebbles etc.
Classification of natural stones depends on their mineral
content and the process of their formation. Good stones are
characterized by hardness, weight, strength, porosity,
amenability to dressing, appearance, durability, texture,
compactness and absorption. Many countries like India are known
for their natural stones, their production and export as well.
Granite, sandstone, limestone, marble are stones that are used
for building and construction purposes are widely available in
India.
Let us know a bit more about these stones:
Composed mainly of silica,
sandstones are hard homogeneous rocks that are known for their
strength. These stones have a low water absorption property and
they are available in varied colors like white, red, green,
pink, beige and many others. You can have the edges of these
stones machine cut or hand dressed. The texture of the stone can
be kept natural or can be sawn. Most natural stones suppliers
offer sandstones in different sizes and thickness in the form of
slabs, tiles, blocks, bricks and cobbles. |
Other common natural stone commonly used is marbles which are carbonate
rocks. Marbles are commonly used for home floorings. Besides this, many
interior designers have used colored marbles on walls facings and other
exteriors. Slate stone are made of a number of minerals with a medium
grained texture. Slate stone are known for their shining property and
the colors in which they are available are different shades of green and
grey. There are many natural stone suppliers that supply a wide variety
to choose from to suit your needs.
There are a large number of stone traders or rather suppliers, mainly in
the northern belt of India. These suppliers deal in natural stones such
as granite, marble, slate, sandstone, limestone and quartzite. Some of
them take orders for stones in the original forms and there are others
who process the stones as per requirement. These stones maybe used in
the form of tiles, slabs, mosaic, paving stone, roofing tiles,
cobbles, pebbles, chips, etc.
The natural stones suppliers of India not only supply their
products to the domestic market, but also export it to various countries
of the world. On the local front, many homes in the urban cities are
either tiled with marble or ceramic tiles. So whether these suppliers
are into retailing, wholesaling or exporting natural stones, they are
into a flourishing business.~
