precious metals market

While commonly the precious metals market refers to the trading of gold and silver, there are other metals that form a part of this market. These include platinum, iridium, rhodium, ruthenium, palladium and osmium.

People usually invest in the precious metals in order to protect themselves against inflation. How is this possible? The price of precious metals generally appreciates, giving higher returns when sold over a period of time. This is because they are categorized as assets.

In India, a majority of the earning populace purchase gold and silver to save them in case of a financial crisis. Investing in gold or silver is considered a better option as it can easily be converted to cash, unlike property investments.

Though gold and silver are the most traded precious metals, presently platinum seems to have found its place in the Precious Metals Market. This is mainly a result of the Platinum Guild International’s hard line marketing campaigns in the last couple of years. This organization founded in 1975, with it Head Office in London has offices in the prime cities of China, Japan, USA, Germany, Italy and India.

The other precious metals are traded for industrial reasons and are still finding a better position in the Precious Metals Market. Precious metals are bought and sold either as consumer products or then in the form of bullion. Others invest from a long-term perspective of earning more than the interest a bank can yield for them.
