  Stainless steel tubing has been widely used by industries across India and the world, ever since it was invented in the early part of the twentieth century. This metal is preferred since it can be molded into thin-wall welded tubing. The tubing is used as original equipment by airplane builders for pneumatic ducts and environmental waste systems, as well as submersible water and gas pumps, Aircraft ducting systems, exhaust systems, aerospace tubing; and other specialized industrial applications.
The stainless steel tubing is mainly manufactured from custom a high grade stainless, which is usually a martensitic age-hardened stainless steel. This grade exhibits high level of corrosion resistance.

 This alloy has superior yield strength and at the same time is easily fabricated. A simple treatment develops higher strength with good ductility and toughness. One of the prime advantages of this tubing is the ease with which it can be welded and brazed.

Stainless steel tubing is generally supplied in the annealed condition. This implies that the metal is in the soft or annealed condition and cannot be hardened by heat treatment, as is the case with like carbon steels. They can however be hardened by cold working. And to bring them back to the original soft condition it will have to go through a heat treatment, better known as annealing.

Tubing made from stainless steel can resist atmospheric corrosion including salt-water atmospheres. It even shows resistance to rusting and pitting. For maximum corrosion resistance, the stainless steel tubing should be free of lubricants, foreign particles and coatings applied for drawing and heading. ~ author Karishma Bajaj.
