The word apparel is not just restricted to a shirt, a pant or rather a beautiful dress. It extends far beyond that. And the wholesale dealers in apparel have understood this concept. Gone are the days when people in India used to shop for a simple shirt, pant, sari etc. But nowadays people look out for something more than that. They look for style, they look for trend and also for something unique yet fashionable.
According to a survey report of a famous sportswear company
their total supplies in 2002 as compared to 1980 has increased by nearly 35
million. This means there is a tremendous in crease in the retail business
of apparels, which consecutively means big wholesale apparel business.
There was a time when traditional wholesalers used to pick up apparels on
wholesale and sell it to the big shops and stalls.
But today with the
introduction of large king size malls and shopping complexes, the business
of these traditional wholesalers have taken a drastic drop. That is because
these malls and shopping complexes have direct contact and straight business
with the factory where these apparels are manufactured and produced.
These manufacturers have bonds and contracts with malls to supply specified
number of apparels to them thereby eliminating the middlemen in the process.
Now that’s one of the reasons why malls and shopping complexes have heavy
discounts on apparels and in spite that they make huge profits.
Apparels like business suits (men and women), suspender dressing, rich look saris, international sportswear, international teenage wear etc of various companies can be seen in large quantities at the malls in India. Some malls have an entire floor or two exclusively for apparels. Shopping complexes purchase these apparels on wholesale basis at almost 30-50% of the price that we pay at these malls.
