Furniture adds value to our homes and our lifestyle. A house is incomplete without the basic furniture. Some of the basic necessity furniture types are the couch, chairs, the dining table, and the bed. Without these, the house is empty. In India, a dining table set costs anywhere between Rs.18000 to Rs.35000. This amount is a bit expensive for the middle class community. But, during recent times, in Mumbai city there has been an increase in the number of stores and furniture malls.

The reason being the rapid increase in the number of Multinational Companies (MNC) and their plush offices making their presence felt in mumbai city. The Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) sector seems to be a major client when it comes to wholesale furniture.

BPOs and MNCs have plush and state of the art offices. Their offices are huge and monstrous. Every office needs considerable amount of furniture such as seats, tables, dividers, workstations, doors, pantry seats etc… Considering the fact that these services need a whole lot of furniture, the best deal for them is purchasing furniture on a wholesale basis. This is also a good strategy for cutting down costs. They purchase wholesale furniture in huge quantities.

For e.g. An MNC recently shifted their global operations at their Bandra-Kurla complex in mumbai, India. This MNC purchased furniture on a wholesale basis. They ordered a whooping 5000 chairs, 1000 department dividers, 300 doors and 200 pantry seats. In all they saved almost Rs.120000, which was a great deal for wholesale furniture purchase.

With a view to make their office better and more comfortable, these MNCs and BPOs are constantly upgrading their furniture.

Builders are also not far behind when it comes to wholesale furniture. Nowadays, more and more builders are coming up with offers like fully furnished apartments, ready to live homes etc… This means the customer gets all the furniture and other equipments with the house. These builders have joint venture contracts with furniture stores and furniture manufacturers for wholesale purchase. They even end up making extra profits in this procedure.

In India, wholesale furniture markets do not have demarked areas of operation, unlike other markets. Since this business is B2B, trade is based more on tenders & competition in pricing and payment facility.
