Some stickers are bright and fancy while some have a social message on them. The concept of stickers was not much famous in India until confectionary companies launched their products like chocolates, candies and bubblegum. If one enters a general store, he can see various types of chocolates and gums and with each of that a tattoo and STICKER free. These confectionary companies purchase stickers on a wholesale basis- generally in quantities of millions to help them generate sales towards their products. Recently, an American confectionary MNC started their own small-scale unit producing only stickers to bring down their overall cost. Moreover, they also sell excess quantity stickers to other small companies.
But wholesale stickers are not just restricted to sweets etc… but they extend far beyond that. The recent craze that is fast gripping Indian car owners is that of wacky car stickers. Initially, an Indian company started advertising a unique product called Theme based Car Stickers that add value to the car. And bang that concept took off very well and today there are more than 25 companies operating in this business in Mumbai itself. Most of these companies manufacture all types of stickers and sell it on a wholesale basis.
Another type of wholesale sticker that is on the rise is sticker carpet. For years we have been glued to the concept of thick hand made carpets. But due to its high cost, high level of maintenance and limited life those types of carpets have lost their popularity and demand. The best alternative is sticker carpets. They have various designs, can be easily maintained and they cost up to 10 times lower as compared to their hand made counterparts. Wholesale stickers can cost almost 10 times low as compared to retail stickers.
Mumbai's business of wholesale stickers is located on Abdul Rehman street. During Diwali, the wholesale stickers business is at it's peak in India. This is because small suppliers come to buy stickers for the festival, which is sold in small villages and towns all over India. With the arrival of mobile phones, the new craze is of cell phone stickers. However, this market is dominated from China made stickers which are mainly traded in wholesale in Musafirkhana area of Mumbai and the Lajpat market in Delhi.
