What we wear creates a lasting impression on people we are associated with. No matter how much we are told, ‘Never judge a book by its cover, yet we prefer to reject someone who is dressed in an scruffy manner, even if he maybe a genius. Even in school a child in crumpled uniform is always kept aside either by peers or teachers, and yet the child could possibly be the most intelligent in class.

Clothes one wears does speak volumes about the person. Through the years much research has been conducted on the effect of colors on one’s personality, especially moods. The color one prefers to wear does provide a personality sketch. For instance, red is the color associated with passion and fire, and so it is considered that a person who prefers red is extremely passionate about whatever they do, enjoys taking up challenges, is an extrovert and extremely friendly.

Apart from the colors, what one wears creates an impression. For instance, denim has always been considered as casual wear, whereas wearing a tie brings in seriousness. Marketing Personnel are trained to always wear a formal shirt with a tie and formal trousers when meeting a client. After all who would sign a cheque and hand it over to a casual Salesperson.

Climatic conditions also determine the kind of clothes worn. They differ from country to country; as well as within one country depending on the season. For instance, cotton is a preferred material during Summers, whereas thicker fabrics are worn in the winters. Every country also has its own style of clothing and a national costume. For instance, in India it is the Sari, which is worn by women.

What is important is to wear the right outfit for the right occasion, maintaining self-comfort too. There are times that one dresses up to impress others and in the bargain is either too conscious or then plain and simple uncomfortable. This then causes embarrassment. Keeping up with the trends is one thing, but always keep in mind that the trend must enhance your personality and not work otherwise; especially where clothes are concerned.
