Designer fabric are usually a bit more expensive than the rest.
Basically, this category of fabrics is designed by individuals to create
expensive clothes and even upholstery for homes. The term comes from the
fact that certain designers create exclusive patterns for special
occasions. Since, this is a more expensive variety of fabric, people purchase them for special occasions. Many brides purchase designer fabrics for their wedding outfit as well as for the more expensive clothes that go into the trousseau. During festivals or other celebrations, people tend to make clothes out of expensive fabrics that are available. Fabrics that have designer signatures are not easily available in the local cloth market. Nor are the originals sold in the wholesale market. Most Indian fabrics carrying designer labels are exported to fashion houses around the world.
