While global warming is altering the world’s climate chart, it is also
altering the world’s wardrobes. So in places where winter coats were
unheard of, today they are being stacked up. The fact is that almost
every place in the world is experiencing a different climatic pattern.
The summers are getting hotter and the winter’s cooler. While it is a world phenomenon, certain parts of India that have usually experienced mild winters, with no major temperature fluctuations, in the last couple of years have had colder winters than normal. In fact, cities and towns that used to experience rather mild winters did not necessitate one to wear anything more than a sweater, as far as winter wear is concerned. However, now those regions have brought in the necessary fashion of women's winter coats. The women's winter coats are either the full length ones, or the shorter, trendy options. The basic differentiation between those for women and men is in the cut, while the style maybe almost similar. Those for the female section of coat wearers are tailored in a way that it compliments the woman’s body, not making her look out of shape, even in coat made from a thick material. While the winters are rather cold in the northern belt of India, the women’s coats are tailored from thick fabric, generally being wool and tweed. Apart from the local brands, a number of labels from abroad are imported for those who can afford it. In fact, in north India, one can purchase a coat at almost any price, ranging from something unimaginably cheap, to a designer label of international repute that could cost a large part of one’s monthly pay cheque. Thus, winter coats for women are available at the wayside roads owned by the hawkers, as well as the departmental stores. Going towards the southern regions of India, the winters are not too cold, yet are cooler than they used to be until a couple of years ago. The coats required in the southern winters need not be the woolen or tweed ones. These are generally made from lighter fabric, that irrespective keep the wearer warm. In the milder winter zones the womens winter coats include those made from denim, which is enough to keep the body warm. In fact the shorter coats are designed a fashioned into trendy styles. Some have a fur collar, while others may have leather patches. One could also purchase a plain coat and put on various brooches that go with the attire worn inside, as well as accessories like the bag and footwear. ~ author Karishma Bajaj.
