In India, Women' winter boots range from the simple patterns to the
designer, expensive ones. However, during the cold weather women
generally prefer wearing boots under their clothes. Though boots do not
go too well with the Indian garments like the saree and salwar kameez,
yet it is worn. This is for obvious reasons – one would rather keep
themselves warm than worry about how its looks. In the northern region of India, the women need to essentially wear boots because whether they live in the snowfall belt or not, most if this part of the country experiences harsh winters wherein the temperatures fall to below zero degrees Celsius. Womens winter boots are generally designed with flat soles, or not too high heels. This is more so in the case of boots for the snow-clad regions. In fact wearing high-heeled boots in such areas could be rather dangerous, as if in case one falls on the ice, they could twist or fracture their ankle. And healing in the winter season takes far too long, and any injury is far more painful. Amongst the latest trends in womens winter boots are those that have an outer edging made from fur, just like the Christmas stockings one hangs during the festive season. This kind of boots is normally worn with jeans of skirts. Though the boots are designed to protect the legs from the lowered temperature, yet one has to wear stockings or socks. This is because the feet tend to sweat inside the footwear that causes a stench from the feet and the boots, too. This could be a rather repulsive stench that can be done away with only by putting the boots through rigorous wash. Apart from that bare feet inside the boots can cause fungal infection, as well as scratches and torn skin. This is because the insides of the boots have felt layering that becomes rough over a period of time. In fact whether the boots are cut out from leather, or otherwise, the insides are not really barefoot friendly. Thus one needs to wear socks. Thus when out buying winter boots for women it is essential to carry along a pair of socks or stockings that you would usually wear inside the boots. Otherwise, if one picks up boots that fit exactly on bare feet, it could be rather tight and uncomfortable with the socks on. ~ author Karishma Bajaj.
