Knitting has been traditionally known as a grandmothers hobby. Almost every to be grandmother is know to sit on her favorite chair and knit for her coming grandchild. Everything from monkey caps to sweaters to jackets, she is known to knit with her warmth and love. While this is tradition, in todays world women of all ages seem to enjoy knitting n their free time. To be mothers knit woolies for their coming babies as they knit their futures too. Women traveling long distance to and from work can be seen knitting away in the buses or trains.

Knitting is not a very difficult hobby to adopt. It can be learnt from the books that are available on the bookshelf; or by attending a knitting class or just by visiting various websites that have been created in a way to teach one knitting online. At the very base anybody interested in knitting needs to learn the different types of stitches, because the designs depend on the stitches. And primarily it all depends on how one holds the knitting needles.

The tools for knitting are easy to carry around and are not very expensive. One needs a pair of knitting needles and knitting thread. The most common used is woolen threads as warm clothes for the winter are knit. The width of needles various from the fine and slim one preferred for tight and delicate patterns and the broader needles are used for the bigger knots that are a more distant.

As far as the threads are concerned they are available in a large variety of colors and shades. In fact you select a shade, no matter how rare it maybe, it would be available somewhere or the other or can be arranged for easily. There are also threads tat come in a shaded effect, which maybe of a single color or two toned; tri toned or multi colored. Also there are threads that have a shimmer and glitter that make the object being knitted even more attractive.

So, no matter what you wish to knit, there is a variety around. Your knitted dreams are literally at your fingertips. All you need to do is learn the basics, the advanced is about your creativity.
