A product normally has printed paper tags for the following reasons. The seller sees it as a marketing piece to encourage the consumer to purchase it. The consumer sees it as an aid in making a buying decision. The tags are usually attached to the packaging which acts as a barrier against the elements. The positioning, shape, size of the tags depends on the product shape and size to facilitate easy viewing and is chiefly driven by market demands.

Printed paper tags also fulfill a security function and their demand is spiraling. Security packaging including printed paper tags is a market demand which continues to grow exponentially. From the producer to the consumer along the supply chain, printed paper tags have several interpretations depending on the person’s perspective, for a seller of luxury goods security features must be incorporated into the tag to prevent theft and misuse. A consumer who needs to buy medicine will treat the tag as a seal of guarantee. Paper tags that are heavy duty and economical to use are employed in industries for tagging sacks and cartons.

 However the final price will also depend on the quality of paper and the number of colours. The size of the text and image on the tag also influence the price. The printed tag can come in various shapes. When orders are placed, a sample of the printed tag is sent to the customer for approval. Graphical  designs can be sent to the printers either by fax or email  in various file formats like jpg, gif, cdr, bmp,  etc.

In India, the concept of designer printed or hand painted paper tags has caught on. The demand for them increases during festivals like Diwali, Christmas or New Year. Prnted paper tags on imported and hand made paper is most sought after during this time.
