terra cotta pots

Painting Terra Cota pots has been a popular hobby for long among the Indian youngsters. In fact there are a large number of professional institutes that offer courses in this hobby in most of the large and small Indian cities. Terra cotta pots make a great object of display in the living room or in the outdoors near the plants.

However, after painting the terra cotta pots with normal paint, over time the paint seems to bubble up. This happens due to the moisture inside the pot, and the paint can actually be peeled off. Terra cotta pots are porous, so it is a good idea to give several coats of acrylic paints on the inside and out and follow-up with a clear waterproof lacquer. The lacquer serves as a sealant and gives each piece a 'finished' look.

These pots are equally suitable for placing indoors or outdoors. They should, however, be brought inside during the harsh winter months. For the purpose of cleaning, it would be advisable to use a cold water and soap solution. And care must be taken to not scrub them too hard.

In fact you can also put plants in the pots. But you just have to make sure to bring them in when the weather gets too harsh such as very cold or snowy or stormy. And also take care to clean them with care. You can also use the terra cotta pots to hold utensils, baby items, keys and wallets, or as a decorative piece indoors. They have many uses and are quite durable. Terra cotta pots are by nature quite breakable, so it is necessary to take good care of your pots.
