KIDS BEDS

Category : children's beds

From the cradle or crib to the bed, is a slow and steady development for a child. In fact, in some cases it may begin with the parents’ bed to the cradle or crib to the kids beds to the adult beds.

Almost a negligible number of people have been able to connect a nexus between a child’s physical development – in terms of growth – and the bed.

What is the nexus? It is as simple as this – as the child grows, everything in terms of size increases: The clothes, shoes, schoolbag, feeding bowl, feeding tools like the spoon, and also the bed amongst all else. Does it sound strange, or have you simply never realised this nexus and forgotten to check whether your child is comfortable in the bed you got him/her a couple of years ago? The bed progression begins when, as a parent, you are confident that the child can sleep independently. And so, you shift the kid from your bed to his/her crib or cradle. This has to be comfortable and protected from all four sides, and yet decorative. When selecting the first kids beds in the form of the cradle or crib, remember that you would probably want to use it till the child is over eighteen months old and moves the least while asleep. This is because prior to this age, the child has a habit of turning in his/her sleep, thereby reaching from one end to the other. This is the main reason why the crib or cradle is protected from all four sides.

This type of kids beds should be lined on all the sides so that the child does not get hurt while moving during his/her sleep. The mattress is normally extremely soft and cosy, as if making up for the mother’s absence while sleeping, and you could have a couple of small pillows tossed around.

Beyond that most people have two large round pillows on either side to ensure the child’s safety. After the crib or cradle come the kids beds without side protection. Basically these are small sized beds, big enough to make comfort sleeping for the kids.

Normally, these beds can be used for the at least five to six years, as their sizes are large enough for kids upto the age of say six or seven. Nowadays, furniture manufacturers have developed a range of fancy kids beds in shapes that parents were not fortunate to sleep in during their childhood.

Basically, the frames of these beds are carved into fancy shapes. The most popular one for young boys is the car shape ones. The girls tend to prefer something that represents what the princesses sleep in the fairy tales. Apart from fancy shapes, there are kids beds that form a part of an entire compact piece of furniture for the child. So instead of selecting a range of independent units, you can select from a compact kids room unit. This entire nit can be fit into one section of the room. It has the bed, study table and closet, with additional drawers, all built together. With such a unit you can provide more space for the child to move about in his room.

Such kids room units are also available for the children into their later childhood, which is defined as eight years and above. In fact it is ideal for them, as they need all the more space. These units are available with double and single kids beds. Apart from the exterior frame concept, an important aspect for kids beds is the type of mattresses and pillows you select. It maybe unknown to you but maximum back problems one suffers from is due to the wrong kind of sleeping mattress. In fact switching over to the recommended type of mattress has been known to solve peoples’ back ailments.

Keeping this in mind, it is wise to seek expert guidance on the right kind of mattress meant for kids. This will ensure healthy back development, which also aids in maintaining the right posture. It is true that most people tend to overlook the basic essentials of life, thinking that all is perfect and it is matter of aesthetics. But, it is not the case with any object meant for kids. Their development, growth and comfort is based on thorough understanding and research before purchasing anything for them, and this includes their beds and beddings.
