Since the fall of communism, the Hungarian Movies have had to struggle much in order to make an impact on the world movie scene and stage. This is because since then the state subsidies, which were allocated to the Hungarian Movie industry, underwent a drastic cut and what followed was a complete domination by American Hollywood movies.

Some of the recently acclaimed Hungarian Movies include a brand new film that has been directed by Miklós Janscó. There is also a highly original first movie directed by the new director Gyorhy Pálfi named Hukkle.

There are also three other most formidable masterpieces of Hungarian movies, which have been directed by Béla Tarr. This director has in fact been acclaimed as one of the greatest directors of contemporary Hungarian Cinema.

He has inherited the mantle of being a supreme stylist from his colleague and fellow former Hungarian maestro Miklós Janscó. He is also hailed as one of the Hungarian contemporary cinema ’s most effective and yet singular voices.

Béla Tarr started out by directing “social-realist cries of rage.” The rough edges of his initial works smoothened to give way to a much more sophisticated visually appealing style of work. There were longer takes and more elaborately choreographed camera movement in his later movies. Janscó largely influenced this evolving style of direction of Bela Tarr.
