 Music is and has always been an integral part of life of people living in the Czech Republic. Some of the world's top musicians are Czechs. Czech music encompasses a host of music genres from classical to alternative and even rock. Czech music has contributed to the development of the world music in the 20th century to a great extent. Composers like Leos Janacek and Bohuslav Martinu are the pioneers of Czech music. Also, the works of Bedrich Smetana, Leos Janacek and Antonin Dvorak are extremely commendable.
 

 The Czech Republic has a strong hold in the folk music genre as well. Czech folk singers
were people who were the unofficial spokespersons during the socialist era.

Some of the famous Czech poets and songwriters during this era were Jaromír Nohavica, Karel Plíhal, Raduza, Jiri Konvrzek and Eben brothers.

When we talk of the Hip-Hop, Czech's young crowds are the music enthusiasts for this genre. Hip-Hop is rapidly developing in the country and some of the favorite Czech Hip-hop artists are Gipsy.cz and Chaozz.

Czech rap is also making a place for itself in the music world over. Some of the famous Czech rap artists include Peneri strycka Homeboye (album Repertoar) and Brno (album Nase vec). Czech music has surely made its mark in the international music scenario.
