ivf, in vitro fertilization experience & success rates

Man has always been innovating and science has been his tool. Today he on his way to create humans too. One of the processes induced is called in vitro fertilization (IVF).

In Vitro Fertilization
It is the process that generates human life in a laboratory. The contents are put in to a glass like that of a petri dish. Ovaries of the woman and the semen of the man make up the main contents.

The process

The woman’s ovaries are hyper-stimulated to produce a number of eggs. They are then collected from the body and mixed with the sperm. The embryos that are then formed through it are nourished by the laboratory culture and inserted back again in to the woman’s body. Hope is that one of these embryos implants itself and then develops in the womb’s lining. This is a very controlled process and needs to be continuously monitored. Hence you are expected to go to the fertilization clinic regularly.

Validity of this method

This is a very fragile method. Research reveals that only 10 to 20% of human embryos ever formed result in actual pregnancy. Most of the embryos die during the transfer process. Some embryos are not in the right proportion the body wants and so are discarded.

The opposition to this method

Giving birth is a God given gift to a woman. Intervention of science in this is sacrilegious. The genetic code of every child is to be coordinated by the body and not by science. As science intervenes it takes the work of the omnipotence into its own hands. The human child should be protected right from its conception to its birth. Else the world will use embryos to its utilitarian purposes.

But infertile couples

A child is a lady’s prerogative. Indeed she is the only one who can produce a child. But if couples face infertility they have to live with it. Toying with a child is like making it an object. We want a child, is what they claim. You cannot force yourself into anything. It changes your mentality, of that of the mother and even that of the child.

Every child is a gift and we have to learn to keep in accordance with Gods plan.

Hence IVF is one’s personal choice. It has proved to be effective but is not totally foolproof.
