Generally, Canvas tents are heavier than those made of
other material. In fact they are considered as old-fashioned because
they need more effort to be put up in comparison to the latest
inventions in the tents. While the newer tents are made of water-proof
synthetic material and can be easily blown up using an air pump, the
canvas ones are known to withstand any sort of weather conditions. The fact is that while the newer tents are easy to put up, they take longer to be flattened out. They can be easily blown away in case of a windy situation. So if you sleep with a tent roof over your head, the possibility is that you may wake up the next morning with the sky as your roof. The canvas tent has been used for centuries together. In fact if you watch movies based on the pre-historic or historic times you will notice that those who wandered from kingdom to kingdom carried their canvas homes on their shoulders. These tents are available in a variety of sizes. While you could purchase one meant for single accommodation, you could also find something to fit a family of four. These tents are usually put up with stakes place firmly into the ground. Some have a waterproof inner lining and a zipper so that one can sleep peacefully and safely keeping mosquitoes away at night. Apart from campers, even circus owners use canvas tents. If you travel through rural India, then you will notice that those who lead a nomadic life sleep at night in their portable homes made from canvas.
