Here are some common techniques for carpet repairs:
In case of a small part of the carpet being permanently damaged by a
burn or soil, the same can be cut out and plugged in by another matching
piece or a similar tapestry. The piece is then hot-glued for durability.
In case of minor burns, the black ends can be cut off by a scissor.
Fading and shading
High-traffic areas of the carpet will fade faster than the rest of it,
which leads to a patchy look. Also, constant pressure of footfalls
causes the carpet piles to flatten giving a shaded texture. Vacuuming
the carpet pile in the same direction can solve the problem to some
extent.
Shedding
Carpets do shed their fibers, which is a normal tendency and not a sign
of less quality. Regular vacuuming helps reduce the shedding.
Snags
Tufts that appear pulled out should be sheared off using scissors ( no
knife, please) and should not be pulled out further.
Re-stretching
Like a human face, our carpets also get loose and wrinkled.
Re-stretching is a tightening system that removes the wrinkles and gives
back the original shape to the carpet
For carpets that are not properly installed or In case of loosened
seams, it is a must to glue them back together else they cause the
danger of tripping and falling.
Alternatively, one can use seam adhesive available at hardware stores.
The technique is to gently pull away the loose seam, apply the adhesive
on the backside of one end of the carpet.
"Shaving" carpet repair Method
The extra fuzz and melted ends can be simply shaved off by a razor blde
( not used regularly), especially if the carpet is a bit thicker or has
shags.
So next time when your carpet is damaged, don’t fret or worry since
there are several solutions for the same.~
