denim jeans

Initially what began as a western fashion, today has taken the world by storm. Denim was in the initial days regarded as the workman’s attire. This is primarily because of the lifespan of this material. It was a uniform warn by laborers. Though it was not expensive, it was made of superior thick threads woven together.  From laborers’ uniform to a fashion statement, denim-ware has traveled a long way.

Today people of all ages and sizes wear denim jeans. With a large variety of brands entering the market constantly, there is a lot more choice. This ranging from the age-ld styles to the latest with patches. Apart from that there is also a variety in the fabric range. The thicker ones are worn in countries that have a cold climate and the lighter denim is worn in countries like India.

In India, apart from the numerous global brands, there are the local ones also being manufactured. Amongst the latest trends in denim jeans are those with lace patches; the hand-painted ones; there are some that are embroidered. Earlier jeans were normally worn full length and had a standard fit, but nowadays manufacturers and fashion designers are constantly working on newer fits, cuts and lengths. There are the hipsters, bootleg, straight-cut, peddle-pushers, three-fourths, etc.

Though denim jeans are normally worn with a t-shirt or shirt, Indian men and women usually wear it with the Indian shirt known as kurta. Normally, the length of this shirt goes upto the knees and below, but a shorter version is also worn known as Kurti. To add a more ethnic look to the attire, people carry a scarf.
