When you think of the word 'diet' or hear it uttered, you are filled with a feeling of dread. The only picture that comes to the mind is boring spinach, celery and lettuce. But far from being boring, you can alter your eating habits so that it includes foods which are healthy and at the same time satisfy the palate. This may be difficult at first, for if you have to choose between a sandwich and potato chips and ice-cream, the sandwich will have few takers.

Fats contain important nutrients and micronutrients, and important vitamins but they are “calorie dense”. Avoid oil in salads, use yogurt or lime juice. Decrease your consumption of fried foods---resist those pakodas and chips and vadas Eating them occasionally does not do much harm, but used regularly, you can gain weight faster than you know it.

Fruits are ideal for weight loss. They are low in calories, rich in fiber, good for overall health and satisfy your cravings for sweet things. Citrus fruits contain Vitamin C which is a good antioxidant. A diet which includes vegetables and fruits in plenty will definitely contribute to weight loss. These are very good dieting foods.
Nuts can be classified under the healthy dieting food.

Although they contain a lot of calories, they are good for snacks, because they contain minerals, vitamins and dietary fiber.
