Childrens Songs

Children's Songs :

There is nothing more beautiful than the world of music. In fact anything put to music has a soothing effect. That too a very soothing effect. It is known to heal people back to better emotional and mental health, as well as in certain cases it is said to be catalyst in curing even physical ailments. While the power of music can never be underestimated, its role in a child’s life can never reach its peak.

The fact is that creating children’s songs does call for a lot of creativity. And there is no limit to the amount of songs that can be penned for them. Even today, there are so many songs, that a child does not get the opportunity to either listen to them all, or for that matter learn every one of them. There are a miniscule number of songs that children are exposed to. Yet, there is scope and space for more songs. Children’s songs are penned in a way that they either teach the child something, or then tell a little tale. And what makes it even more attractive is that they are performed by children. Even if the lead singer is an adult, then children are used in the chorus. Children's songs are divided into various categories including cradle songs, nursery rhymes, lullaby songs, birthday songs, action songs, educational songs, and so on. These songs are mainly set with tunes, rhythm and modern creations to entertain as well as educate children of different age groups.

Songs for children are not restricted to the book records or educational syllabus. They can range from a simple and short song shared by small children to a lovely, melodious and heart rendering songs invented by a loving mother. The oldest of children songs are ‘Oranges and Lemons’, ‘London Bridge is Falling Down’ and ‘Jack and Jill’.

Most of the musicals created in Hollywood have songs for children that have become evergreen classics all over the world. They are taught in schools and usually performed on stage. Not only is this case with the western film industry, but also the Indian. In fact as far as possible, most filmmakers consciously attempt to at least have one child-oriented song in the movie, as this attracts children to the cinema halls. The fact is that in Indian movies songs form an essential part in selling the film to the audiences. There are a large number of filmmakers who work out the scenes on the basis of the songs created. They actually have their movies scripted on the basis of the songs. And they earn a lot of returns from the music releases.

Apart from movie songs for children, there are also the educative children’s songs. A large number of artists around the world work on releasing albums with songs meant for children. These songs could be based on fairy tales and fables, Nursery rhymes, or just original lyrics put together. The most important factor maintained by those working on releasing albums for children is that the music should be light, with more weightage on the lyrics that should be clear. Children enjoy songs that they can learn easily and sing too. In fact, even Indian film songs with clearly audible lyrics are learnt by young ones in no time.

When you find it difficult to teach your child something, then the best thing to do is quickly pen down some lyrics pertaining to what you want your child to learn and set it to some popular tune, and in no time whatever the valuable lesson is, he or she will have mastered it in no time. That is the art of teaching children through entertainment!
