| African prints are pure
cotton fabrics and are hard-wearing. In Africa they are well known as ‘KITANGE’.
It is worn by African men and women. After all, they are produced for a
market where they may have to withstand frequent, vigorous hand-washing over
rocks in a local stream. African wax prints never have any problems with
colours bleeding, but as a precaution with some colours like blue/green it
is preferable to wash new fabric separately before use. The fabrics will
soften after their first wash.
