If the mention of bamboo flooring conjures up an image of a bamboo curtain strung together and laid down like a rug, then you could not be more far from the truth and you are in for a huge surprise. Bamboo flooring is a unique flooring. Bamboo flooring is not as flimsy as it seems, in fact it is harder than even Red Oak and Rock Maple. The expansion and contraction rate of bamboo flooring is also much lesser than that of hardwoods. It is almost 50% lesser to be precise. And in case of durability bamboo flooring provides one of the soundest flooring. In fact even environmentally it is the soundest flooring.

To look deeper into the technical aspects bamboo is a sustainable grass. And to top this, it is the fast growing grass. This provides us with an opportunity to find an alternative for hardwood. It is a well known fact that the supply of hardwood is very limited.
This flooring has some unique and remarkable qualities. Bamboo flooring is as hard as Hard maple. It is also much more stable than Red Oak. Not only that it is also much harder than Red Oak.

Bamboo flooring is surprisingly made from grass and not from wood. And as is well known, there are more than 1,000 species of grass worldwide. And grass rejuvenates right up to a mature level within a matter of 4 to 5 years. And this makes bamboo a highly environmental friendly product as it helps in preserving the rapidly depleting forests.

There are a few popular types of Bamboo Flooring available. There are:
1. Finished Lacquered Bamboo Flooring:
This type of the bamboo flooring is available in two the natural colors. These colors are Fresh Mao and the Carbonized Color. Once the Carbonized bamboo is processed in high temperature it takes on a darker color of coffee. This type of bamboo is then lacquered and further finished for the final sale. Both the available colors are uniquely styled.
2. Unfinished Unlacquered Bamboo Flooring:
The unlacquered flooring is not ready for use after installation unlike the finished lacquered flooring. The Unfinished Unlacquered needs to be coated, waxed and polished after it is installed. This of course gives the customer a greater choice to finish the flooring as he/she pleases.
3. Tapic Flooring:
Tapic flooring is thinner than the above two types of flooring. It is also a onelayered type of flooring. This flooring makes for an elegant purchase at the price at which it is available.
