carpet flooring

One of the major carpet industries of India is Kashmir. This place, also known as heaven on earth, has given the world the most intrinsic designs in carpets that are probably the most expensive. Artistic designs of eras gone by are finely woven together. These are carpets with patterns of nature, portraits, floral designs, ethnic weaves, etc. While most people may want to believe that carpet flooring is one of the latest inventions that came about maybe a few centuries ago, the fact remains that it probably began with human existence. As known through history books and archaeological findings prehistoric man used animal skins to cover their cave floors for their comfort. The fact is that carpets have been a basic necessity as far as human domestic life is concerned.

Carpeting has evolved through the ages. From animal skins, it went onto the rugs and woven carpets. Initially the carpets were just placed onto the floor with no adhesives. They could be picked and wrapped up at any time. Today, you could purchase carpets that are stuck to the floor firmly. No doubt due to social, economical and fashion developments the carpet industry too has been evolving.

Carpet flooring is an essential in places where the winters get very cold. It adds to the warmth of the home.  When purchasing carpets for your home, the important basic factor is to purchase patterns and designs that go with the interiors, giving it a brighter look. Those with children and pets generally prefer darker shades.

Carpet flooring has to be well maintained. A lot of care has to be taken. It should be regularly vacuumed so that all the dust particles are cleaned away. If you have a furry pet at home then you should go for a carpet with a smooth surface, making it easy to brush off your pet’s fur. You must also be well equipped with a range of carpet cleaners and stain removers. ~ author Karishma Bajaj
