For those looking out for a flooring material that will last for a
lifetime and withstand the trials of time, then the best choice is the
ceramic floor tile. An increasing number of homes are being done up with
ceramic tiling because it is easy to maintain, not very expensive and a
large variety to select from. As a matter of fact it is one of the
oldest and longest-lasting flooring materials. In fact it fits in well
in any room you wish to lay it. It goes well with the décor of the
bathrooms, kitchens, drawing room and bedrooms. When purchasing ceramic tiles you have to keep four basic aspects in mind, which are size, shape, color and finish. In terms of the size, it depends on the space you need to floor. The larger the room, the larger should be the tiles. People usually use smaller mosaic tiles in the bathroom. There are varied shapes available that include square, rectangular, hexagon, round, etc. You can also order custom shapes. Whiles doing up the flooring it is important to pay attention to color. Ceramic floor tile is available in almost every color you can imagine. You could be creative and purchase two or three colors and more and create your own pattern. Alternatively, you could purchase the entire flooring in a single color. There are tiles that are of a single solid color and others that are shaded. The most interesting are the mosaic tiles. Along with the color the other aspect that goes hand-in-hand is the finish. There is the glazed finish where the tiles are covered with a glazing material to create a shine. The unglazed look duller and are very ordinary to look at. If you intend purchasing various colors of the ceramic floor tile to create colorful flooring, then it is advisable to first sketch the layout on paper. This is so as to be aware of what colors and how many of each is required. Even while fitting them it becomes much simpler than just creating a pattern there and then. ~ author Karishma Bajaj.
