install garage door

So, you have decided to install a garage door. If may seem a Herculean
task at the beginning but once you know the basics the installation
process just flows. You can begin to install a garage door by
measuring the current door space in feet and inches. With these
measurements make a rough opening. You also have to make arrangements
for the headroom. At least 10” has to be allowed between the top of the
door and the ceiling. Put the power unit high enough at least above 7”
so that tall people do not run into it. You have also to keep sufficient
space for backroom. You may also consider some additional space for
installing an automatic garage door opener. While installing a garage door you have to keep ready door springs, cables and pulleys as these supports the weight of the door and not the door handle. During installation keep by your side only things that you need and remove all the extra cords and cables. It is also wise to remove all the existing door locks if any and deactivate them too. You do not want to be stuck inside or outside with an accidental door lock. Do not wear rings, metallic articles or loose clothing when you are out to install a garage door. The manual disconnect cord that most of the garages install should be around 6’ from the floor, as this is above the average Indian height, thus allowing suitable distance. When working with the electrical cords make sure the main power box is disconnected. All the electrical lines of the garage door should be grounded to a safe outlet to avoid electrical shock. Install the push button of the garage door high above children’s limit but easily visible to the adult. Keep the remote opener out of reach of children. Never pass under an opening door and operate the garage door only when it is in sight and there are no obstructions. ~ author Karishma Bajaj.
