Landscapes Designs, which emerge are basically a result of the basic and essential resources on the site in focus and the personality of the owner coupled with his / her priorities. Of course any Landscape Design project or process is quite complex. But there are some basic ideas that can help anyone in directing the landscaping. One basic step to be followed in the process of Landscape Design to ensure clarity and quality is:
1. Assess your needs:
The first and foremost activity you need to conduct is to simply walk around your available space or yard and make a detailed note of all the possible ideas that come to you. Some of the details that you must pay close attention to are:
a. Which plants that are doing well?
b.Which are the plants that have outgrown their space?
c.Which is your favorite area and why?
d.An objective view of how your home looks to visitors?
e. Is the used by your family?
f. If it is not used by your family, then why?
Having done this the next step is to spend some time inside the house looking out at the yard. Elements such as which are the sunny sides of the house, which require the curtains to be drawn always. Trees could be lined to shade these windows. Similarly fragrant plants can be planted near to the windows to scent your home.
The third step is to decide how you want your landscape to function. You might want to use it as an entertainment space or a garden, a utility area, a place for pets, or just a setting for the house. Most times it is a combination of two or more of these functions. In most families, these functions keep taking on differing levels of importance as the children grow, then bring in grandchildren into the family tree.
One activity that would come handy to evaluate the yard or the site, which is meant for the landscape design, is to shoot a roll of pictures. Most times the details that you might have missed out in case of day to day observations might suddenly become obvious in a picture.
Once you have clearly identified and established what is needed to be done during the activity of your landscape design, all you need to do then is acquire the right technical experts to put into reality your vision or your ideas.
