A lot of people in India like to do up their homes with
marble flooring. This is more so because of the majestic beauty of
monuments of the times gone by. Whether it is the Taj Mahal
or other palaces of princely states all over India, marble slabs were
used as flooring. This kind of flooring is sometimes regarded as a sign
of prosperity and royalty. Marble is probably one of the most expensive options for flooring. However, because of the various varieties available, many people can afford it. There are two most commonly used types of marble. They are the white marble and the black marble. The former is available in various qualities. The most expensive is the pure white slabs. The cheaper range consists of those with shades of gray, off-white, etc. Black marble came into prominence more so after Emperor Shah Jahan wanted to construct a replica of the Taj Mahal in black. It was his wish to be buried in a crematorium just like his wife’s. Her’s being white representing her beauty and his being black. Today, most apartments in India have marble flooring. It is cooling to the feet, especially during the sweltering summer months. Instead of bulk furniture, people usually keep mattresses and rugs on the floor and cushions of different shapes and sizes. This they feel adds to the beauty of the flooring. A lot of people convert their original tiled flooring to one with marble. People hired specially for doing flooring jobs can easily fit these slabs into place. Apart from the regular sweeping and swapping, it is essential to have the floor of marble polished by professionals. ~ author Karishma Bajaj.
