These fixtures are visible in every home. In fact faulty plumbing fixtures could
be every home owners worst nightmare. And to avoid any kitchen or bathroom
nightmares from manifesting, its best to buy the best in fixtures. And the
best need not always be the most expensive. Sometimes when we go shopping we
tend to go overboard looking at the latest products available and end up
buying more than is required or then what is not required at all and forget
what we went out for.
So, the first rule to be followed when going out to pick up your plumbing
fixtures is to determine what you really need- taps, sink, flush, toilet
seat, shower setup? Then what you need to do is measure the space within
which you need to put up the fixture so that you do not end up buying
something either too big or too small. It is also important to determine the
tap connection you require; that is whether you need hot and cold water taps
or just cold water, so that accordingly you purchase other add ons.
Having made a precise list of your requirements, the next step is to select
from where you intend making the purchases. There are three ways of doing
this. Firstly you could run through the yellow pages and telephone the
companies you would prefer to deal with and take a price list from each of
them over the phone. Or you could pick a day and drive through town
visiting showrooms selling plumbing fixtures. Whatever it is before making
the required purchases it is important to conduct a market survey to know
for sure that you are getting the best at the best price.
Two major points to be kept in mind is firstly, any plumbing fixture that
contains lead and is in contact with water is a potential source of
contamination. Even brass fittings and plumbing fixtures, that contain 8% or
less lead, have been found to contribute high levels of lead for a long
period of time after their installation.
Secondly, you must avoid doing is asking your plumber to make the purchases
for you because they tend to hike up the price in order to keep a commission
for themselves. Also prior to purchasing your needs check with your plumber
about its fittings so that there are no complications later. Plumbing
fixtures are one of the most important requisites of home and any mistakes
could lead to blocked or leaking accidents that could get really messy!
