wall coverings

Wall coverings have the capacity of dramatizing any given room's best features. They can transform the perception of the shape and size of any room. It all depends on the design of the wall coverings that you choose. Stripes and prints can help to actually visually change the proportions of a room. They can even make a ceiling seem higher or make a large space seem much more intimate. In the rooms that are completely devoid of any architectural detail it might be a good idea to use borders to create the illusion of chair rails and crown molding.

But the most important thing is to coordinate the textures of the wall coverings with the other objects in your room. Most of the prominent manufacturers in India today make coordinated fabrics for window treatments and upholstery.

There is a wide range of choice available between classic toilet and floral wallpapers, both from Indian manufacturers as well as imported goods. These will easily complement the collections of objects like transfer-ware dishes.

The most appealing aspect of Wall coverings is that they can mask some surface flaws much better than paints can. They also provide protection against future marks and damage. And in case of areas like kitchens, baths and high-traffic areas, they offer the best moisture resistance and wash ability. Of course, there are some downfalls to them also.

Though they are a beautiful, practical and durable way to decorate a room, wall coverings also sometimes require minor repairs in case the adhesive bonds fail or get damaged. In order to avoid problems, it is important to tackle the simple repairs immediately. Most of the Indian homes, have still not taken to using wall coverings. This could perhaps be because of the fact that traditionally only paints have been used as a medium for covering the walls in India. Another reason is that wall coverings are not as economical and not advertised as much as paints are advertised in India and therefore have not become a way of life yet in India.
