fiberglass statues

Fiberglass literally means threads of glass. Due to its
unique properties, fiberglass is best–suited for all kinds of statues
especially outdoor–oriented ones. This feature also makes fiberglass
statues economical and flexible in terms of size. E.g. the Griffith
statues at Wisconsin stand over 30 feet tall! So what’s so special about
fiberglass? The very process of creating
fiberglass gives it a seal of durability. The molten glass (liquid
glass) is pushed through a sieve that creates the fine thread-like
effect of glass. Fiberglass statues are made with a similar theory.
Moulds are created wherein the molten glass is sprayed through. Once
baked, the glass adopts the exact shape and figure of the mould, giving
birth to another artistic fiberglass statue. Amongst concrete or resin,
fiberglass is most preferred for statues due to its flexible quality and
ability to adopt itself to the shape of the mould. By its very nature, fiberglass is strong and quite
light thus making it crack-proof and rendering easy mobility even within
large distances. Thus big size statues are ideally made of fiberglass.
Fiberglass statues are apt for outdoor display since it can withstand
seasonal vagaries too.
