Making your baby announcement: The arrival of a baby is almost always a cause of joy and leads to much pondering over how to announce it. Baby announcements, or birth announcements are a concept that has evolved several times over the last century. There was a time when people would simply distribute sweets all over the village, or within a close-knit local community. However, with greater distances and reduced social interaction, people have to break the news through less personal means.

 

Many couples are resorting to customized baby announcements. They send out cards marked with messages like We have been blessed with a son (or daughter) or something like – Mrs and Mr Sharma are proud to announce the birth of their second child.

 

Sometimes, these messages go out signed by, not the mother or father, but the grandparents, or in the name of an older sibling. The new baby is often described as angel of love, or ‘miracle’ or gift.

 

The delight and pride and gratitude that comes along with the baby is usually embedded into the message. Needless to add, most announcements use images of bows, lace, baby pinks or blues, booties and bonnets. Sometimes, couples make their own announcements at home, using their creative skills. Others buy empty borders and frames and insert a picture of the newborn into it, which works wonders as an introduction! Little baby on the way,
Getting bigger every day,
Kicking mommy here and there,
God please listen to our prayer.

Keep our baby safe and strong,
Let his time with us be long,
Help us teach him right form wrong,
