Baby Shower Ideas and Invitations

With everyone creating a different party at the baby shower, how unique can you get, you think? Do not fret; creativity is always brimming at the stores and at the internet. So you are sure to come across something not done before. To start with you need to have a streamlined idea that will flow into everything around the party. So from the invitation to the décor to the food to be served it is that one idea that should take you through.

Be unique by thinking about how you and your partner got together. There could be some sliver of thought that will pass your mind. When you guys met and thought about your babies were there something either of you said would do. Or is there a desire among the two of you for your baby, then this is the chance to show it. For instance if you thought of having a fairytale birthday for one of them or bring them a puppy, you could have a fairytale theme or wild theme.

A few baby shower ideas are listed here below:

Quack quack duck – Let some rubber ducks float in your drink bowl. Miniature ducks can be served in the drink glass. Duck balloons too are available to dress your home and entrance. Duck soaps wrapped in gelatine paper make a great invite with the invitation card tied to a ribbon and around the duck.

Go Baby – think of all the things a baby would need and then dress your home with it. There could be prattles, pacifiers, toys, ducks and other kiddie stuff. Baby bottles can act like vases, baby food cans can become serving dishes. A huge prattle can be the centrepiece. Go berserk with this idea.

Outdoor theme – you can get all the baby toys like kiddie kitchens, Barbie dolls and cars around the garden. Give mock drinks to your guests in the baby kitchen teacups. Have games like tasting baby food blindfolded, feeding one of the partners with a feeding bottle and so on.

You can get as creative being practical about the baby shower, making it an event for your guests to remember.

Baby Shower invitations - Ideas for prizes

When picking door prizes and give- always at any baby shower it is essential to make them interesting, not necessarily expensive.  Little gift certificates from your favorite store make ideal & memorable shower gifts.

Baby shower Thank You Notes: Most mothers-to-be are naturally too busy at a baby shower having fun to try to remember every item that is given to them and by whom. When the mother-to-be is opening the shower presents, have someone at the party jot reminders on a sheet of paper indicating who gave which gift. Another idea is to have everyone at the party write their own address on a thank you envelope.

You can even make a game out of it (each guest can draw a envelope out a hat - mark one envelope as a door price winner). Both of these ideas make it a lot easier for the mother-to-be when she's writing those important thank-you notes later on.

The appropriate time for a baby shower

There really is no set time for a baby shower. Most baby showers occur in the last trimester of the mother-to-be's pregnancy stage, however this is not a fixed rule. Some people even have baby showers after the baby is born.

Who puts on the baby shower?

Normally it's a family member on either the father's side or the mother's side who throws a baby shower for the mother-to-be.  However, it's really acceptable for any person close to the mother- to-be to throw the baby shower.

Baby Shower Invitations

Invitations are a great way to reflect the spirit and theme of your shower - whether using packaged invitations, stationary, or designing your own invitation. Here are just a few  suggestions:

1) Little Diaper Invites - cut out triangles from pink & blue construction paper or felt; write the party details on one side of the triangle with a felt-tip pen, then fold like a diaper and secure with a cute diaper pin. Looks cute !

2) Building Blocks - Cut out three squares from three different colors of construction paper;  draw A, B, C on one side;  overlap them and tape or glue together; and then write your party information on the back of each one of them.

3) Bubble Gum Cigar - Announce the baby shower by sending your guests a bubble gum cigar with a tag describing all the party details on it. Author  K Khatri.
