“Everyone must be aware that color has a great influence on the appearance of the complexion, and that different complexions require different colors to enhance or improve them and them that indescribable charm which properly contrasting and harmonizing color can give” This was a remark made by George Ashdown Audsley in his monograph Color Harmony in Dress. This remark still holds true even today. Shades of copper, ash brown and dark red look great with Asian looks. While for a dark skinned person, the trendy colors are or plum.
The cooler of the eyes should also be taken into account when choosing a hair color. For Indian eyes colors like copper, brown or dark red go well with dark eyes. Even low highlights can be done by pulling down specific portions of hair in dark brown or red. Brunettes should have the hairdresser highlight the sides and crown areas then use a semi-permanent cooler thus creating a subtle texture. Blondes should opt for lighter shades unless the natural base is quite dark. In this case they should put fine woven highlights around the face. For dark blondes it is better to concentrate on bold highlights in key areas like the crown, parting, top layers. Red heads
should fire up the shade and increase the hair’s natural shine. Grey hair
should be left its natural color. If one wishes to conceal gray hair one
should use a semi-permanent color or a colored mousse that will last a few
washes. ~ editor Floy Peris.
