You need to know what looks good on you. Part of this is determined by heredity-- the genetic factors that determine the color and nature of your hair and the shape of your face and part of it depend on your ability to introspect and decide what hairstyle suits you. Whatever it is, any hairstyle for a special or formal occasion should manage to make you look taller and slimmer than you actually are. Another golden rule is that the shape of the face and the shape of your hairdo should not be identical.
French braids are always
stylish and a half up \half down style looks delightful. You can also have
multiple ponytails that are individually braided and gathered together at
the top of the head. Curls and ringlets never go out of style. Gather these
in an updo and hey presto, you are transformed. What will probably work is a hairstyle, which is pulled back and piled on top of the head with stray strands being forced to lie on the forehead and the upper cheek. Tendrils pretending to escape the confines of the updo create a wonderful effect. However, Ensure that there is no width at the sides of the face. The Ballerina Bun is just what it says. One or two buns on the top of the head show the neck and jewelry to perfection. If you have hair that is long or of shoulder length, these hair updos are just for you. In case you have an oval face, you do not have a major problem. As your forehead and chin are roughly of the same shape just about any style will suit you. The only thing to remember is not to pull back the hair very tightly. To compensate for the long lean oval face, immaterial of whatever hairstyle you adopt, add volume to the sides in the form of curls or tendrils. If you have been endowed with a geometric square face with an equally geometric jaw line, stay off hairstyles that accentuate the square jaw.
Updos are good compensators provided the height and fullness is softly curved and rounded. If you have ringlets piled on the head, allow some of them to stray near the jaw line and the cheeks. The angularity is considerably reduced. If you are one of those who have a pronounced jaw, draw attention away from it by opting for a hairstyle that is full of waves or curls which softly surround the face. If your face is heart shaped, bangs on the forehead and a lengthier hairstyle will suit you. Whether you braid, curl or create ringlets, the basic purpose of any formal hairstyle should be to add height and create an effect that will draw attention away from unattractive features and accentuate the nicer ones. Use volumising gels and proper conditioners for control. Do not choose a hairstyle merely because it looks attractive, go for something that will suit your temperament, your face and your bone structure. hairstyling tips. editor K Bajaj.
