nail care

Whether she dons a business suit or flashes a salwar kameez, beautiful long nails are considered an essential aspect of her overall appearance. Believe it or not, one of the most closely observed parts of her are her hands, besides her feet and hair. Thus, good well-manicured nails are a crucial part of her good looks since they project your personality and state of health.

Nail care is quite a time-consuming process, but if the correct measures are adhered to, it can be a satisfying experience.

Healthy nails need health and nutritious food. Besides the right diet, nail care is all about developing good nail habits and implementing a few beauty tips such as:-

-Nails should be cleaned regularly, either through manicure or an at-home’ remedy. The bacteria that breed in the dirt wedged in the nails can be harmful.

-While cutting, nails should be cut straight across using shape scissors and smoothened at the tips

-Cuticles should not be cut off.

-Nail-biting is a huge no-no as it destroys the basic shape and leads to dead skin around the finger area.

-A simple cleaning routine: Soak hands in lukewarm, soap water for 5 –7 to get rid of the dirt. The nails should be cleaned with a blunt stick or nail filer with a pointed but not sharp edge.

-Using a good nail polish remover, thoroughly wipe off the old nail color from the base.

Shape the nails with a filer but not in see-saw movement since it might cause damage.

-After drying and cleaning off the nails, apply clear polish and post the drying apply a coat of the required color.

-Remember to use a good quality product of some top cosmetic companies. Avoid the temptation of using the cheap versions available at local shops or in the trains. In the long run, these might cause permanent yellow stains to your nails.

-You can apply another coat for a better look and to strengthen the nails.

-Using a cold cream or moisturizes prevents nail spitting.

If a regular manicure at the nail parlor burns a hole in your pocket, even simple cleaning and polishing once a month is a good form of nail care. Minor problems can be resolved with domestic measures but in case of more complex cases, it is advisable to visit a dermatologist. Fungal infections, vertical brown or black streaks, swelling etc must be treated properly at once.

Brittle nails are a result of calcium deficiency. Ensure a sufficient intake of Vitamin B Complex (available at all chemists). Have at least 1 banana a day and 1 cup of milk. For external supplements, on can apply freshly squeezed limejuice on the nails, using cotton.
Feet need extra nail care since they are most vulnerable to infection. Feet must be washed regularly after returning home and regular pedicures keep the nails nice and healthy.

In a nutshell, the following nail care routine should be adopted viz:
· Regular cleaning
· Nail Painting
· Manicure

Thus, it is not necessary to spend a fortune in nail core by visiting expensive parlors. A good range of nail care kits are available with Indian Beauty Centers or parlors. Follow a good health regime and spend as little as one hour a week for cleaning and polishing. This will not only enhance your personality but also render a feeling of well being from within.  ~ Authored Karishma Bajaj
